Factors Affecting Adoption of Conservation Agriculture Practices in Mpatsa Extension Planning Area, Nsanje, Southern Malawi

Conservation agriculture (CA) emerged as an alternative innovation to conventional due losses in soil productivity a result of degradation. This study investigated factors affecting the adoption Agriculture Mpatsa Extension Planning Area southern district Malawi, Nsanje. A quantitative method approach was followed where were collected from sample 110 targeted smallholder farmers area using semi-structured questionnaire majority (63.6%) women. Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) also done triangulate data on questionnaires. Data entered into Microsoft Excel database and analyzed SPSS version 20. Socio-economic, environmental household income have greater impact conservation agricultural innovations. Animals found cause permanent cover disturbance while feeding crop residues leaving bare. The concluded that climatic CA training negatively affected new innovations, therefore, recommending further extension support for well more access credit opportunities increased households’ CA.
